Services trade volume in Hainan's Sanya up 29.41% in January-April
According to Sanya Daily, tourism services account for a significant portion of this trade
HAIKOU /China/, May 28. /TASS/. The total volume of services trade in Sanya, a city in the southern Chinese province of Hainan, amounted to 4.13 billion yuan ($578.2 million) from January to April of 2025, marking a 29.41% year-on-year increase, according to the Sanya Daily newspaper.
During this period, exports of services increased by 52.71%, reaching 3.58 billion yuan ($501.2 million). Meanwhile, the trade surplus in this sector reached 3.03 billion yuan, up 78.2% from the same period last year.
Tourism services account for a significant share of this trade. According to statistics, the total volume of Sanya's tourism exports and imports grew by 112% year-on-year to 2.93 billion yuan ($410.2 million) in the first four months of this year. This accounts for 70.45% of the city's total trade in services.
The newspaper reports that new formats in trade in services are being developed in addition to traditional areas. Notably, the volume of computer services trade remained in the hundreds of millions of yuan, while intellectual property and insurance services recorded growth of 45.76% and 87.77%, respectively, during this period.
According to the newspaper, Russia and Serbia have become new growth points in international trade. Trade in services between Sanya and these markets grew 7.5 and 3.5 times, respectively, from January to April.
