Sovcomflot ships carried 160 mln tons of oil from the start of Arctic operations

As of the end of 2024, company’s ships also transported 8.1 mln metric tons of LNG from the Russian Arctic area throughout the operation period

MOSCOW, March 26. /TASS/. Sovcomflot ships transported 160 mln metric tons of oil and 8.1 mln metric tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Russian Arctic zone as of the end of 2024 since the start of operations in the Arctic marine basin in 2008, according to the presentation of CEO Igor Tonkovidov at the International Arctic Forum.

"[The company] has the largest fleet of ice class ships globally. As of the end of 2024, company’s ships transported 160 mln metric tons of oil and 8.1 mln metric tons of LNG from the Russian Arctic area throughout the operation period," the presentation indicates.

Sovcomflot is the largest Russian shipping company, specializing in operations in harsh climatic and ice conditions.
