MURMANSK, March 26. /TASS/. Russia responsibly regulates shipping along the Northern Sea Route (NSR), adhering to a non-discriminatory approach and prioritizing safety in challenging conditions, said Vladislav Maslennikov, the Director of the Department of European Affairs at the Russian Foreign Ministry, during the International Arctic Forum.

"As the largest coastal Arctic state, Russia strictly fulfills its international legal obligations, primarily stemming from the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. Our policy for regulating navigation along the NSR is both responsible and non-discriminatory, centered on enhancing safety in difficult ice conditions, protecting the unique Arctic flora and fauna, and ensuring the quality of transportation and logistics services provided by Russia, including pilotage and icebreaking," Maslennikov stated.

He emphasized that the Northern Sea Route is currently one of the safest, most environmentally friendly, and promising sea routes in the world.
