NEW YORK, February 28. /TASS/. The Russian ruble has soared by 15% against the dollar since the beginning of the year, showing the best result among all national currencies, Bloomberg reported.
"The ruble has soared 15% versus the greenback since the beginning of the year, making it the best-performing currency," the agency says
The agency notes that after the start of negotiations between Russia and the United States, interest in Russian assets worldwide has grown. The growing demand for them is also observed on the domestic market.
In recent weeks, contacts between Russia and the United States have intensified.
On February 12, Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump spoke on the phone. The almost one-and-a-half-hour conversation took place 23 days after Trump's inauguration. The two leaders discussed a wide range of topics, including the Ukrainian conflict, bilateral relations and the exchange of citizens.
On February 18, high-ranking delegations from Russia and the United States met in Riyadh. Following the meeting, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov reported that the parties had reached an agreement on the earliest possible appointment of Russian ambassadors to the United States and the United States to Russia, as well as on the removal of long-standing obstacles to the work of Russian diplomatic missions.
