Moscow court fines Tinder owner $102,038 for refusing to localize data

Match Group was already fined in Russia for violating the law on data localization

MOSCOW, February 5. /TASS/. Moscow justice court has fined the owner of the online dating service Tinder, Match Group, 10 mln rubles ($102,038) for refusing to localize data in Russia in accordance with Russian law, the court told TASS.

"By the decision of the judge of Judicial District No. 422 of the Tagansky District Court of Moscow, Match Group LLC was found guilty of committing an administrative offense under Part 9 of Article 11.13 of the Code of Administrative Violations of the Russian Federation (repeated violation of the legislation of the Russian Federation in the field of personal data). It was sentenced to an administrative penalty in the form of an administrative fine of 10 mln rubles," the court said.

Match Group was already fined in Russia for violating the law on data localization. The law requires Russian and foreign companies to store personal data of Russians only on the territory of the Russian Federation.
