MOSCOW, February 4. /TASS/. Russia reduced seed imports by almost 2.5 times in 2024 compared to 2023, Deputy Agriculture Minister Marina Afonina reported at a meeting in the Federation Council (upper house of the Russian parliament).

"Our seed imports in 2024 decreased by more than 2 times compared to 2023, by almost 2.5 times. This indicates that our agricultural producers are switching to domestic seeds," she said.

In turn, the head of the Federation Council Committee on Agri-Food Policy and Environmental Management Alexander Dvoynykh stressed that it is necessary to come to uniform figures in these statistics.

"Because we see different figures from different documents. Given the importance of the tasks, we would like to rely on verified and clear figures," he said.
