MOSCOW, January 21. /TASS/. Russia’s foreign trade surplus increased by $1 bln to $122.6 bln in 2024 from $121.6 bln in the previous year due to a proportionate decline in exports and imports, according to preliminary estimates by the Bank of Russia.
In December 2024, the country’s foreign trade surplus decreased by $5.3 bln year-on-year to $5.6 bln.
Surplus of Russia's foreign trade balance amounted to $53.8 in 2024 compared to $50.1 bln in the previous year.
"Deficit of services balance grew to $4 bln (in November it equaled -$2.5 bln) as a result of a seasonal rise in imports of other services and Russian citizens’ expenses during foreign trips," the regulator said.
Current account deficit amounted to $1.3 bln in December 2024, down by $3.4 bln compared with the revised result of November 2024 mainly due to a seasonal increase in deficit of investment returns balance and services balance coupled with weakened trade balance.
