MOSCOW, December 27. /TASS/. Gazprom supplies gas for Europe through Ukraine in the volume of 41.5 mln cubic meters (mcm) per day to the Sudzha gas pumping station in Russia’s Kursk Region.

"Gazprom supplies Russian gas for transit through Ukrainian territory in the volume confirmed by the Ukrainian side via the Sudzha gas pumping station of 41.5 mln cubic meters as of December 27. The request for the Sokhranovka gas pumping station has been rejected," a Gazprom representative told reporters. On the previous day, the pumping equaled 41.4 mln cubic meters.

The transit route through Ukraine remains the only route for Russian gas supplies to Western and Central European countries. Pumping via Nord Stream has been completely stopped. Gas supplies via TurkStream and Blue Stream are intended for Turkey and the countries of Southern and Southeastern Europe.

The agreement on the transit of Russian gas through Ukrainian territory expires at the end of 2024 and provides for the pumping of 40 billion cubic meters annually. On December 26, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that a new contract for the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine won’t be concluded, but Russia and Gazprom will overcome it. Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal announced that Ukraine will stop the transit of Russian gas at 7 a.m. (08:00 a.m. Moscow time) on January 1, 2025. Shmygal explained that the resumption of transit through the Ukrainian GTS will be possible at the request of the European Commission, if it is not Russian gas.
