Inflation decelerates to 0.33% in Russia over week — statistics

MOSCOW, December 25. /TASS/. Inflation in Russia stood at 0.33% from December 17 to 23, 2024, the Russian federal statistical service (Rosstat) said.
Inflation was 0.35% a week earlier, from December 10 to 16. Consumer prices in the country ticked up by 9.5% year to date and by 1.3% from early December. Inflation stood at 9.55% in annual terms as at December 23, 2024.
According to statistics, prices gained 1.7% for hen eggs, 1.4% for frozen fish, 1% for chicken meat and canned meat for invants, 0.9% for sunflower oil, 0.8% for half-smoked and cooked smoked sausages, 0.7% for cooked sausages, sausages and frankfurters, 0.6% for pork, butter, canned vegetables for infants and vermicelli, 0.5% for beef, mutton, milk, sour cream and rye bread, 0.4% for cheese, canned fruits and berries for infants, granulated sugar, wheat flour and bread, 0.3% for curd, dry infant formulas and black tea, and 0.2% for edible salt. Fruits and vegetables prices had an uptick by 2.6% in average, particularly for cucumbers (+8.3%), tomatoes (+1.9%), white cabbage (+1.7%), apples (+1.5%), beet (+1.1%), bananas (+1%), potatoes (+0.9%), onions (+0.8%), and carrots (+0.7%).
Among the essential goods, prices ticked up by 0.4% for detergents, 0.3% for diapers and soap, and 0.2% for toothbrushes.
Among the other nonfoods, the rise in prices was 0.5% for chipboards and oriented stranded boards, 0.3% for TV sets and 0.2% for shampoos. Prices dropped by 0.5% for vacuum cleaners. Gasoline and diesel fuel prices hiked by 0.4% respectively.
