MOSCOW, December 25. /TASS/. Russian oil industry will become 90% independent of imported foreign technologies and equipment in 2-3 years, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said in an interview with the Rossiya-24 TV channel.

"I think that in the next 2-3 years - if we speak about technology and equipment for the oil and gas industry - we will reach an almost 90% level of independence," he said.

Novak noted that Russia will achieve leadership in a number of areas, including the extraction of hard-to-recover gas deposits.

According to him, Russia has been actively engaged in import substitution since 2014 and has seriously changed the situation, becoming less dependent on Western technologies.

"Today we are talking not only about technological sovereignty, but also about technological leadership, which implies not only import substitution, but also a step forward," Novak added.
