Tajikistan’s total foreign trade turnover amounted to $7.3 bln in the reporting period, up by 18.6% year-on-year, Yevgeny Korenkov said
DUSHANBE, December 23. /TASS/. Trade turnover between Tajikistan and Russia increased by 19.1% in the first ten months of 2024 year-on-year, head of Russia’s trade mission in the republic Yevgeny Korenkov told TASS.
"In 10M 2024 trade turnover between Russia and Tajikistan rose by 19.1% year-on-year to $1.618 bln," he said citing figures provided by the Agency on statistics under the republic’s president.
Tajikistan’s total foreign trade turnover amounted to $7.3 bln in the reporting period, up by 18.6% year-on-year, Korenkov added.
Russia has traditionally been the main trade and economic partner of Tajikistan for 15 years, he noted, adding that the republic’s economy is focused on import of goods and services from Russia. "Since 2007 Russia’s share in Tajikistan’s foreign trade turnover has been around 20-25%, with Russia’s share in foreign trade turnover standing at 22.1% in 10M 2024," the envoy said.
In this area stable dynamics has been observed in recent five years, Korenkov said. "Monthly increase is almost $160,000, and if this trend persists I expect a figure close to $2 bln to be seen," he noted.
Russian ambassador to Tajikistan Semyon Grigoryev said earlier that trade turnover between Russia and Tajikistan could reach the level of $2 bln and exceed it if the existing potential is fulfilled. According to data provided by the Tajik side, the volume of last year’s trade between Russia and the republic roughly equaled $1.7 bln, which is an all-time high.
