NEW YORK, December 20. /TASS/. US President-elect Donald Trump has threatened to impose higher tariffs on imports from the European Union if Brussels does not boost its oil and gas purchases from the United States.

"I told the European Union that they must make up their tremendous deficit with the United States by the large scale purchase of our oil and gas. Otherwise, it is tariffs all the way!!!" Trump wrote on his Truth Social account.

The inauguration of the president-elect is scheduled for January 20, 2025.
