Russian stock indices up, yuan strengthens against ruble as Friday's trading opens
At the opening of trading, the MOEX index rose by 0.17%, the RTS index went up by 0.16%
MOSCOW, December 20. /TASS/. The Russian stock indices are moving up at the start of trading on the Moscow Exchange, while the yuan is strengthening against the ruble, according to data from the trading platform.
At the opening of trading, the MOEX index rose by 0.17%, to 2,420.45 points, the RTS index went up by 0.16%, to 737.27 points.
Meanwhile, the yuan-to-ruble exchange rate rose by 8.3 kopecks compared to the closing level of the previous trading session and amounted to 14.09 rubles.
By 10:15 a.m. Moscow time (07:15 a.m. GMT), the MOEX index accelerated its growth and reached 2,431.01 points (+0.6%), the RTS index was at 740.49 points (+0.6%). Meanwhile, the yuan exchange rate increased by 4.05 kopecks, to 14,048 rubles.
The Moscow Exchange suspended trading in dollars and euros on June 13 due to US sanctions imposed against it and the National Clearing Center. To determine the dollar and euro to ruble exchange rates, the Bank of Russia uses bank reports and information from over-the-counter trading.
