Over 40% of organizations in Russia embrace AI in daily operations, study reveals
More and more companies are seeing the economic benefits of using AI, said Deputy Prime Minister and Chief of Staff of the Russian government, Dmitry Grigorenko
MOSCOW, December 18. /TASS/. About 43% of companies in Russia are integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into their daily operations, according to a joint study by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) and the National Center for AI Development under the Russian government.
"Since 2021 (since the start of calculation of index of economic sectors’ readiness for the introduction of AI - TASS), the average usage of AI technologies in economic sectors and social sectors has doubled. About 43% of businesses use it in their operations," the study says.
More and more companies are seeing the economic benefits of using AI, said Deputy Prime Minister and Chief of Staff of the Russian government, Dmitry Grigorenko, as quoted in the study.
"Many of them have their own strategies and long-term plans for using these technologies. That is, we see a fairly high level of interest and involvement in the implementation process on the part of enterprises," he added.
According to the study, the financial services sector is moving towards industrial use of AI.
A third (36%) of organizations surveyed in 2024 agreed that they were receiving significant economic benefits from the use of AI while in 2021, there were only 14% of them. Also, 38% of companies have plans to implement and develop AI. But only 7% of respondents have the tools to develop and use AI.
The AI readiness index is now 3.5 points out of 10 maximum - it has increased by 0.3 points compared to 2021, but has decreased slightly in 2023. The authors of the study attribute this to the fact that with the rapid growth of AI use, more and more resources are required in personnel, finances and infrastructure to develop and support solutions.
