LUXEMBOURG, December 18. /TASS/. The European Court of Justice in Luxembourg has rejected Russian businessman Oleg Deripaska’s appeal against the EU Council demanding that sanctions imposed on him due to the conflict in Ukraine be lifted, a TASS correspondent reported.

As stated in the court files, the businessman’s claim was based on three main arguments. "First plea in law, alleging infringement of the right to effective judicial protection and of the duty to state reasons. Second plea in law, alleging a manifest error of assessment regarding the reasons advanced by the Council. Third plea in law, alleging infringement of the principle of proportionality and of fundamental rights," the document explains.
