Russian air regulator points to increase in commercial flights with SSJ-100 aircraft
Currently, the domestic civil aviation fleet has 154 Superjet-100 aircraft active with commercial airlines
MOSCOW, December 17. /TASS/. The number of flights using Superjet-100 planes in January - November 2024 increased by 19.5% year-on-year to 134,400, while the number of incidents caused by malfunctions on this type of aircraft decreased by 2.5%, the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) reported.
"This aircraft’s reliability is growing, despite the challenges faced by operators in servicing Superjet 100 engines, the availability of a number of consumables and components, and the operational performance of import-substituted components compared to imported alternatives," the regulator says.
Since February 2022, the number of components serviced in Russia, according to the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of the Rostec state corporation), has soared more than fivefold to 311 items.
In particular, 214 components have been serviced by alternative developers from among Russian companies. In addition, nine alternative components have been developed to support the operation of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 fleet, and their number should increase to 59 by 2026.
"We will continue to expand our partnership with Superjet operators. After analyzing the information received from operators at the meeting at Rosaviatsia, by the end of the year we plan to update our plans for the successful production or repair of components that are essential for airlines that use the Superjet aircraft," UAC CEO Vadim Badekha said.
Currently, the domestic civil aviation fleet has 154 Superjet-100 aircraft active with commercial airlines.
SSJ-100 maintenance is performed by specialists from 29 organizations.
