Russia’s international reserves grow by $0.3 bln over week to $614.4 bln

MOSCOW, December 12. /TASS/. Russia's international reserves as of December 6, 2024, increased by $0.3 bln over the week to $614.4 bln, according to the Bank of Russia.
"International reserves at the end of the day on December 6, 2024 amounted to $614.4 bln, increasing by $0.3 bln over the week due to a more significant impact of positive revaluation compared to operations with National Wealth Fund’s funds," the regulator said.
As of November 29, the volume of reserves amounted to $614.1 bln.
International reserves, which are highly liquid foreign assets at the disposal of the Bank of Russia and the Russian government, consist of foreign currency funds, special drawing rights, a reserve position in the IMF, and monetary gold.
After the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, Western countries imposed sanctions on the Bank of Russia. In addition to freezing Russia’s gold and foreign currency reserves, all operations related to the management of the reserves and assets of the Bank of Russia, as well as operations with any legal entity, organization or body acting on behalf of or at the direction of the regualtor, were prohibited.
