Murmansk Region pays $17 billion in subsidies under Own Home in Arctic Program
Governor Andrey Chibis noted that more than 75% of the program participants had used certificates to build or purchase 911 homes in the Murmansk Region
MURMANSK, December 12. /TASS/. Payments under the Own Home in Arctic Program to subsidize housing construction that the Murmansk Region began in 2022 reached 1.8 billion rubles ($17 billion), Governor Andrey Chibis wrote on Telegram. This program has become one of the most popular support measures in the region, where the authorities issued almost 1,500 certificates of up to 1.5 million rubles ($15,000) for construction or purchase of a house or a house kit.
"For more than two years we have been implementing the unique program Own Home in the Arctic," the governor wrote. "Over this time, 1,419 certificates worth more than 1.8 billion rubles have been issued. In 2024 alone - 740."
The governor noted that more than 75% of the program participants had used certificates to build or purchase 911 homes in the Murmansk Region. The certificates are issues as a matter of priority to medical workers, teachers, veterans of military operations, participants in the Special Military Operation and their families.
Earlier, the governor stated that the program had proven to developers that Arctic residents had an interest in investing in real estate in the Far North. To date, developers have confirmed agreements for the construction of 800,000 square meters of new housing in the Murmansk Region, where the market of new housing practically does not exist.
