Putin proposes international conference in Russia to discuss future of AI
According to the head of state, Russia needs to develop its own AI technologies and participate in the global race to build strong artificial intelligence as an equal
MOSCOW, December 11. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed that Russia host an international conference to exchange views on the future of artificial intelligence.
"Our key research centers in the field of artificial intelligence are up and running, performing well. We invite scientists from all over the world to work together. In this context, there is a proposal is to hold an international foresight conference in Russia, a kind of a strategic session on the future of artificial intelligence to think together what direction the development of such powerful technologies will take. This will make it possible to respond to emerging challenges and risks in a timely manner, to use non-standard solutions and opportunities, to outline new directions for scientific breakthroughs and partnerships," Putin said at an international conference called AI Journey.
According to the president, Russia needs to develop its own AI technologies and participate in the global race to build strong artificial intelligence as an equal.
"Russian scientists are now working on advanced solutions," he said. "Work in the field of artificial intelligence should be based on the solid foundation that has been created by outstanding Russian philosophers, secular and religious thinkers, historians, linguists, recognized authorities in the field of humanitarian and cultural knowledge and, of course, scientists, mathematicians, specialists in cybernetics and computer science."
