Belarusian president sees huge potential for freight transit via Russia
The Northern Sea Route project will be the focus here, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko went on to say
MINSK, December 6. /TASS/. Belarus is currently transporting numerous goods through Russia, and there is potential for much more, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said.
"Belarusian freight now moves through Russian ports, a mutually beneficial endeavor. On the one hand, it addressed our logistics challenges, [on the other] it provided a boost in revenue for Russian companies," he said at a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Russia and Belarus. "There is still a lot of untapped potential," the president added.
The Northern Sea Route project will be the focus here, Lukashenko continued. "We’ve already carried goods along this route; it’s working," he added.
The first shipment of goods via the Northern Sea route was successfully delivered in late September from China to Belarus. The goods were packed in Beijing in August and shipped off to Belarusian businesses.
