Gazprom suggests that Chisinau discuss gas transit to Transnistria with Kiev
According to Moldovan Energy Minister Victor Parlicov, Moldova's wish "to maintain the existing route" was conveyed to the Ukrainian side
CHISINAU, November 27. /TASS/. Gazprom suggested that Chisinau hold talks with the authorities in Kiev to maintain gas transit to Transnistria in 2025, Moldovan Energy Minister Victor Parlicov said commenting on the consultations held in St. Petersburg with the head of the Russian company Alexey Miller.
"Gazprom suggested that we hold talks with the Ukrainian leadership on maintaining gas transit to Transnistria after the New Year. We have already raised this issue with Ukraine. This would be an easy scenario for us, but we understand that the decision cannot be made quickly, it can be made at the last moment," Parlicov said. According to him, Moldova's wish "to maintain the existing route" was conveyed to the Ukrainian side.
In case of a crisis, the Moldovan government has created gas reserves and also worked out alternative delivery routes. However, problems may arise with the payment of gas by Transdniestrian energy companies, which are currently using Russian fuel on credit.
