Preparation of Russia’s energy strategy until 2050 is in its final stage — PM Mishustin
The prime minister emphasized that increasing the energy and resource efficiency of the Russian economy is of paramount importance for the further sustainable development of the country
MOSCOW, November 26. /TASS/. Preparation of Russia’s updated energy strategy until 2050 is in its final stage, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a strategic meeting on increasing the energy efficiency of the Russian economy.
"Its (updated energy strategy - TASS) preparation is now in the final stage," he said.
Mishustin emphasized that increasing the energy and resource efficiency of the Russian economy is of paramount importance for the further sustainable development of the country and the achievement of the national development goals outlined by the Russian president, primarily in terms of improving the lives of Russian people.
"In order to solve these problems, we are actively updating infrastructure facilities. In particular, boiler houses in the regions are being converted to more cost-effective types of fuel. Serious progress has been made in the use of alternative and renewable energy sources and, accordingly, in reducing the negative impact on the environment. Since last year, such work has been underway within the framework of the relevant state program," Mishustin said, adding that the program is comprehensive and includes measures to improve technologies and practices in the fuel and energy complex, industry, transport, construction, housing, and utilities - the areas with significant energy consumption.
"There is also significant potential for increased efforts in each area. We will continue our systematic work, also taking into account the updated energy strategy with an extended planning horizon to 2050," Mishustin added.
