Kimberley Process lifts restrictions on diamonds from Central African Republic
The embargo on exports of diamonds from CAR was introduced by the Kimberley Process in 2013
MOSCOW, November 21. /TASS/. The Kimberley Process (KP) has lifted all the restrictions on exports of diamonds from the Central African Republic (CAR), Russian Deputy Finance Minister Alexey Moiseev said after the KP plenary session.
"The KP made a number of decisions important for the reputation of our industry: all the restrictions on exports of diamonds from CAR were lifted, which will significantly promote stabilization of the economic situation in the country, and the CAR monitoring group that become outdated long ago was abolished," Moiseev said.
The embargo on exports of diamonds from CAR was introduced by the Kimberley Process in 2013. It was partly lifted in 2016 and the country was able to supply diamonds from five zones not affected by conflicts.
