Domestic furniture production up 9% in 9M 2024 — minister
New woodworking plants are opening in Russia, Anton Alikhanov said, adding that the furniture market and related areas have begun to operate more transparently over the last 24-36 months
MOSCOW, November 18. /TASS/. National production of furniture is up 9% as of the end of nine months of 2024, Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov said.
"We have seen fairly strong results so far this year; the furniture industry has grown by a little more than 9% as of the end of three quarters," the minister said. "I am confident the above-average growth will continue until the end of this year. The market stood at 653 bln rubles last year ($6.5 bln); we expect to exceed that figure this year. High demand for Russian-made furniture is driving production in related segments - chipboards, fiberboards, and plywood," the minister noted, cited by the ministerial press service.
