MOSCOW, November 18. /TASS/. National production of furniture is up 9% as of the end of nine months of 2024, Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov said.

"We have seen fairly strong results so far this year; the furniture industry has grown by a little more than 9% as of the end of three quarters," the minister said. "I am confident the above-average growth will continue until the end of this year. The market stood at 653 bln rubles last year ($6.5 bln); we expect to exceed that figure this year. High demand for Russian-made furniture is driving production in related segments - chipboards, fiberboards, and plywood," the minister noted, cited by the ministerial press service.

New woodworking plants are opening in Russia, Alikhanov said, adding that the furniture market and related areas have begun to operate more transparently over the last 24-36 months.
