Trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan, Russia up 27% this year — republic’s envoy
In the first half of the year Russian investment in Kyrgyzstan exceeded $100 mln
MOSCOW, November 15. /TASS/. Trade turnover between Russia and Kyrgyzstan increased by 27% in the first nine months of 2024 year-on-year, the republic’s ambassador to Russia Kubanychbek Bokontayev said at a meeting with Russian Federation Council (upper house of parliament) Vice Speaker Konstantin Kosachev in Moscow.
"In the first nine months of this year trade turnover with Russia rose by 27% compared with the same period last year, with both export and import having increased," he said.
Russia has also become one of Kyrgyzstan’s main investors, the diplomat added. "In the first half of the year Russian investment in Kyrgyzstan exceeded $100 mln, which is around one quarter of total investment in the Kyrgyz Republic from all foreign countries," he said.
That said, mutual trade growth rates "make it possible to have an optimistic view" on potential growth of trade turnover in the future and on "reaching the $5 bln goal in the near future." Last year the volume of Kyrgyz-Russian export and import transactions amounted to around $3.2 bln.
