Russians spend average of 25 minutes per day surfing online retailers — Mediascope
E-commerce is now the fifth-most popular online activity in terms of time spent
MOSCOW, November 13. /TASS/. Russians spend an average of 25 minutes a day surfing e-commerce sites (electronic commerce, purchase and sale of goods and services via the Internet), Anton Chestnykh, product manager at Mediascope, said at the e-com summit as part of the National Advertising Forum.
"First of all, I would like to note two key indicators which are now driving market growth. This is the daily audience, 51%, and the average time per person: an average person now spends 25 minutes a day on e-commmerce sites. E-commerce is now the fifth-most popular online activity in terms of time spent," he said.
Russia's five biggest online retailers today are Wildberries, Ozon, Yandex.Market, AliExpress and MegaMarket. The first two platforms have almost identical market reach - 62% and 61%, respectively.
"There is a lot of competition among online sellers - even the top platforms cannot cannot capture an exclusive audience - people who use a specific marketplace and do not use any of the other top five. Absolute loyalty to a specific seller is unusual," Chestnykh noted.
In October of this year, users submitted 3.5 billion search queries on e-commerce sites. "There were an average of 37 search queries per person. This is an average of more than one search query per day," Chestnykh added.
The National Advertising Forum is underway in Moscow from November 13 to 15. TASS is the general information agency of the forum.
