Russian grain exports expected to be 56 mln tons in current season
Grain exports from the start of the agricultural season until November 1 of this year totaled 25.1 mln metric tons, President of the Russian Grain Union Arkady Zlochevsky said
MOSCOW, November 11. /TASS/. Russian grain exports in conclusion of the current agricultural season (from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025) are expected to reach 56 mln metric tons, President of the Russian Grain Union Arkady Zlochevsky said at a press conference.
"Exports go not at a record but a second historically high pace. We estimate the export potential at 56 mln metric tons, this is for grain crops in total. They comprise 45 mln metric tons of grain," Zlochevsky said.
Grain exports from the start of the agricultural season until November 1 of this year totaled 25.1 mln metric tons, which makes up 45% of forecast 56 mln metric tons, the expert said. Wheat exports in the same period stood at 21.9 mln metric tons or 48.7% of the forecast figure. "The issue will naturally emerge against such rate whether the quota is present for the second half of the season and whether it is enough to realize such potential," Zlochevsky stressed.
At the moment, harvesting has already covered 98% of areas, Zlochevsky said. "We will fundamentally reach a fairly good harvest from the historical perspective as regards indicators; it will be 126 mln metric tons according to our estimates, it will be 126 mln metric tons," he noted.
"This is enough anyway to cover absolutely all domestic market needs. And the export potential’s drop is insignificant," the expert stressed.
