Russian companies successfully operate in Qatar despite all difficulties — ambassador
However, Dmitry Dogadkin also drew attention to the fact that entering the Qatari market is not always economically feasible for Russian companies
DOHA, November 8. / TASS/. Russian companies manage to successfully operate in Qatar despite difficulties due to cross-border payments, insurance and logistics, Russian Ambassador to Qatar Dmitry Dogadkin said in an interview with TASS.
"Those companies that show a real interest in entering the Qatari market and finding partners from the emirate manage to successfully conduct business even in the current conditions," he said.
As for the factors hindering cooperation between the two countries, Dogadkin named "the fears of Qatari entrepreneurs of falling under secondary sanctions, as well as difficulties in making mutual settlements and related issues of insurance and logistics."
"Establishment of settlements in national currencies is relevant in this context. The relevant work is underway," the diplomat said.
However, Dogadkin also drew attention to the fact that entering the Qatari market is not always economically feasible for Russian companies.
"We are pleased to note that Russian business is making its presence here increasingly visible. However, in some cases, Russian economic operators admit that the local market is not large enough for them. There is interest, there is potential, but the volume of demand calls into question the advisability of working out the labor-consuming process of entering a foreign market," he said.
