DOHA, November 8. /TASS/. The volume of agricultural trade between Russia and Qatar increased by almost 50% year-on-year in the first half of 2024, Russian Ambassador to Qatar Dmitry Dogadkin said in an interview with TASS.
"Cooperation in agriculture is dynamically developing. In the first half of 2024, trade turnover in this area increased by almost 50% compared to the same period last year," he noted.
According to the diplomat, Qatar "is of interest to Russian entrepreneurs not only as the final point of delivery of goods, but also as a logistics hub for export to third countries."
"In this context, cooperation is underway on the North-South International Transport Corridor project," he added.
In late September, Russian Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut reported at an extended meeting of the State Duma Committee on agriculture that the export of Russian agricultural products in 2024 amounted to 74 million tons, which is a 7% increase year-on-year. She noted that exports are growing due to the development of new markets in Africa, Asia and the Persian Gulf. In 2023, the volume of agricultural products supplied to foreign markets amounted to $43.5 billion. In total, more than 100 million tons of food were exported.
