MOSCOW, November 7. /TASS/. Russian winemakers may propose the creation of a BRICS wine union, Russian President’s special envoy for relations with international organizations, Boris Titov, said during the Russian Wine Forum.
"As for participation in international organizations - on the one hand, we need to assess to what extent we are suited for them today, and on the other hand, we can try to propose the creation of a BRICS wine union," Titov said.
He pointed out that the main wine markets are shifting, with the Chinese and Russian markets becoming among the largest. In this regard, one could consider the establishment of a new geopolitical institution, Titov noted.
The official also said that, to promote their products in foreign markets, Russian winemakers need to focus on joint projects that unite them, participate in competitions, and develop wine tourism.
The Russian Wine Forum is being held on November 7-8 in Moscow. The event is sponsored by the Roscongress Foundation and the Association of Winegrowers and Winemakers of Russia with the support of the Russian government.
