Russia ready to continue supplying gas to Europe — Novak
Moreover, European countries are interested in further gas transit from Russia via Ukraine, the Russian deputy prime minister added
MOSCOW, October 6. /TASS/. Russia is ready to continue supplying gas to Europe, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told reporters on the sidelines of a meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club, adding though that related agreements should be made by consumers and transiters.
"What we see <…> is that Ukraine remains an unreliable transiter country, thus putting countries that need cheap environmental, energy resources in a predicament. This is why we are ready to supply [gas], though little depends on us here. This is why agreements on that should probably be made directly by consumers and the country ensuring transit," he said.
Moreover, European countries are interested in further gas transit from Russia via Ukraine, Novak added. "As far as transit is concerned, indeed, the agreement expires on December 31 of this year. In my opinion, the European countries that currently receive gas via this corridor, are obviously interested in further cooperation, and the continuation of this cooperation depends on the agreements or non-agreements that should be reached by European countries and Ukraine," he said.
