Haikou airport sees international cargo traffic exceed 10,000 tons by early July
Meilan Airport currently serves seven international cargo routes covering Europe and several Asian countries
HAIKOU /China/, July 11. /TASS/. As of July 8, the volume of international cargo traffic through Haikou Meilan International Airport (southern Hainan Province) has exceeded 10 thousand tons since the beginning of 2024, which is 187% more than the figure for the same period last year, the Hainan International Communication Network (HICN) reported.
Meilan Airport currently serves seven international cargo routes covering Europe and several Asian countries. The flights include such destinations as Milan, Bournemouth, Paris, Vienna, Tbilisi, Incheon and Singapore.
The airport management is constantly developing its international air cargo network, HICN noted. This year, this airport opened an "air channel" for international express imports for cross-border e-commerce, marking the airport's contribution to the development of international trade in Hainan Free Trade Port.
As of July 8 this year, 469 tons of cargo had been transported through Meilan Airport via the international express delivery channel. On average, 2,500 to 3,000 parcels are delivered through this channel every day.
Looking forward, Meilan Airport will continue to expand the international air cargo market and give a strong impetus to the qualitative development of air logistics in Hainan Free Trade Port, HICN wrote.
