Russian coal supplies to China over 100 mln metric tons in 2023 — Energy Ministry

Earlier reports said that coal supplies to China totaled 67 mln metric tons as of 2022 year-end

MOSCOW, April 16. /TASS/. Russian coal exports to China was over 100 mln metric tons as of the end of 2023, Deputy Energy Minister Sergey Mochalnikov said at the National Oil and Gas Forum.

"China is a producing country number one and the consuming country number one. Nevertheless, coal purchases from the Russian Federation are underway, with significant growth over the last year. We exceeded the supplies level of 100 mln [metric tons] in 2023. Considering that the global market is hardly above 1.2 bln, this is a material share," Mochalnikov said.
