Coal throughput in Russian ports may drop to 161 mln tons in 2024 — expert
According to Association of Sea Commercial Ports, oal throughput in ports stood at 187.1 mln metric tons last year
MOSCOW, April 12. /TASS/. The coal throughput in Russian ports may decline in 2024 to 161 mln metric tons, Board Chairman of the Association of Sea Commercial Ports Denis Ilatovsky said.
"If we project the first quarter of 2024 to the whole year, we will probably see a dip in coal throughput volumes, a fairly significant one. We mathematically calculated 161 mln metric tons," he said.
According to the Association, coal throughput in ports stood at 187.1 mln metric tons last year. The drop in coal throughput can be therefore about 15% as compared to the last year.
Coal throughput is forecast to be 14 mln metric tons in the Arctic Basin, 11.4 mln metric tons in the Black Sea Basin, 42.7 mln metric tons in the Baltic Sea Basin, and 93.5 mln metric tons in the Far Eastern Basin.
