Scrap metal, collected by Clean Arctic volunteers, brought to Yakutsk

YAKUTSK, April 12. /TASS/. Trucks carrying 80 tons of scrap metal, which volunteers of the federal Clean Arctic project had collected, arrived in Yakutsk from Yakutia's Arctic districts, the region's First Deputy Minister for the Development of the Arctic and the Affairs of the Peoples of the North Sergey Neustroev told reporters.
"Today, we have received four trucks with scrap metal, where the total weight is about 80 tons. Starting today, we are working on the federal Clean Arctic project. The work will continue for one year," he said, adding the Yanolovo and Yanzoloto companies had the scrap metal brought by winter roads from the village of Chokurdakh in the Allaikhovsky District and from Silyannyakhsky Nasleg in the Ust-Yansky District.
The delivered scrap metal had been collected since 2022 the official told TASS. It will be recycled, he added.
The Clean Arctic federal project in Yakutia started in August 2021 in the village of Tiksi, the Bulunsky District. Later on, the project was extended to the region's other Arctic districts. "The locals, the young people, school students have been very actively involved in this work, like have been the enterprises, located there," the first deputy minister noted. For 2024, the work is planned in the Bulunsky, Verkhoyansky and Ust-Yansky Districts.
On the cleaned territory, Yanolovo will build a workout site for people living in the village of Sayylyk, the Ust-Yansky District.
