Inflow of household deposits into Russian banks in 1Q totals $21.4 bln — regulator
According to the Bank of Russia, in 2023, household funds in Russian banks increased by 7.4 trillion rubles ($79.4 bln), which is almost three times higher than in 2022
MOSCOW, April 10. /TASS/. The inflow of household deposits into Russian banks in the first quarter amounted to 2 trillion rubles ($21.4 bln), the head of the Bank of Russia, Elvira Nabiullina said speaking in the State Duma.
"The inflow of funds into deposits continues and in the first quarter of this year it amounted to almost 2 trillion rubles," she said.
In December 2023, household funds in banks increased by 2.9 trillion rubles ($31.1 bln) (6.9%), which is comparable to the growth in December 2022 (+7.6%), the Bank of Russia noted. The reasons were the traditional advance of January pensions (which were additionally adjusted to inflation), as well as the payment of social benefits and annual bonuses.
According to the Bank of Russia, in 2023, household funds in Russian banks increased by 7.4 trillion rubles ($79.4 bln) (+19.7%), which is almost three times higher than in 2022 (+6.9%). Such a significant inflow of funds occurred due to social and budget payments, rising wages of the population, as well as the return of cash to banks amid rising deposit rates.
