UK and US make progress in transferring Russian assets to Ukraine
UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron also called on US congressmen to approve the allocation of additional funding for Ukraine
WASHINGTON, April 9. /TASS/. The UK and the US have made progress on the issue of transferring frozen Russian sovereign assets to Ukraine, and the parties will present their proposals at the Group of Seven (G7) summit in June, British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said.
"We know that they need money in the form of frozen Russian sovereign assets. And we are making good progress in how to access those funds on an agreed basis that I think we can take forward at the G7," he said at the press conference with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Washington.
Cameron also called on US congressmen to approve the allocation of additional funding for Ukraine. "I come here with no intention to lecture anybody or tell anyone what to do, or get in the way of the process of politics and other things in the United States. I come here as a great friend and a believer in this country and a believer that it’s profoundly in your interests in your security in your future and the future of your partners to release this money," he said.
