Total EAEU GDP growth reaches 3.8% in 2023 — PM Mishustin
The Russian prime minister also drew attention to the expansion of cooperation with the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States
MOSCOW, April 3. /TASS/. The total real gross domestic product (GDP) of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) grew by 3.8% by the end of 2023, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said on Wednesday.
"The Eurasian Economic Union is also developing successfully. Its total real gross domestic product grew by 3.8% last year," he said.
He recalled that in 2023 Russia chaired the EAEU bodies and the leaders of the countries included in the association adopted a declaration on the development of the Union's integration for the future, called the "Eurasian Economic Path". According to the Prime Minister, this document will become a guideline for further strengthening of strategic interaction of the EAEU states in all spheres.
Speaking about Russia's participation in other international associations, Mishustin drew attention to the expansion of cooperation with the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). "Russia's trade turnover with them grew by almost 6% last year," he noted.
In addition, Russia has maintained and strengthened its presence in key regional associations, Mishustin noted. "First of all, it is the BRICS, where our country holds the presidency this year, and the SCO," Mishustin said, stressing that Russia plans to deepen the dialogue with other constructive organizations, including within the framework of the humanitarian agenda in education, science and culture, as well as in sports.
