Haikou airport sees rise in number of international parcels sent by air
The figure has increased more than 69 times
HAIKOU /China/, March 28. /TASS/. Since the beginning of the year, about 530,000 international parcels have been sent via Haikou Meilan International Airport in China's southern Hainan province, the city's customs service reported.
The number has increased more than 69 times. During the same period, the airport's throughput of cargo flights for parcels sent via express delivery channels reached about 600 tons. Recently, an international cargo route between Haikou in China and Bournemouth in the United Kingdom has been put into operation. It is mainly used for cross-border transportation of parcels sent by various e-commerce platforms. It is also used to deliver personal express packages and other types of cargo.
Meilan Airport currently serves three international cargo routes. They cover Paris, Incheon and Bournemouth and connect four international destinations, creating a route network that includes Europe, Northeast Asia and several other regions.
The city's customs office has observed an upward trend in the number of parcels sent by international cargo flights from Meilan Airport. In this regard, the agency is working to optimize relevant procedures to ensure the smooth processing of such shipments, which contributes to the development of the e-commerce market.
