Russian videogame market estimated at $3 bln — expert
Russia ranks sixth in Europe and is among the top ten globally by revenues from mobile games
MOSCOW, March 11. /TASS/. The Russian videogame market amounts to $3 bln, which is one of the highest figures globally, international videogame expert Hisham Nuhu said at a meeting of the cybersport working group of the Russian State Duma.
"In terms of figures, the Russian videogame market volumes stands at $3 bln at present. There was a minor decline in 2022 in view of the departure of certain companies but the recovery is underway now. Russia ranks sixth in Europe and is among the top ten globally by revenues from mobile games. We understand Russians do no not spend much money for games but download plenty of apps from different [online] stores," Nuhu said.
Russian producers can create quality video games capable of generating high profits, general producer of Game Art Pioneers Dmitry Zaseev said. "I regret saying we spent money for a long time for foreign games in absence of our own ones, and there is nothing shameful in that. We need to create our own disciplines. We have many good developers in our country and I am confident we can make money on games of our own production," he noted.
