Russia to face strong competition in global sweet protein market — presidential aide
Several centers of international scientific cooperation are being created now to promote Russian biotechnologies
SIRIUS /Federal Territory/, March 4. /TASS/. It will not be easy for Russia to become a leader in the global sweet protein market, aide to the Russian President Andrey Fursenko told TASS at the World Youth Festival.
"I think it will be very challenging. Not because we lack technical readiness but merely because not everyone dreams of seeing us there," Fursenko said. "We indeed support [the sweet protein marketing project], with all the efforts, because we believe this is critical. All the international projects are also moving to this side. This is a very important project socially, for health, and it is generally a good project," Fursenko noted.
Several centers of international scientific cooperation are being created now to promote Russian biotechnologies, in the UAE and China, and Africa is also considered, innovations director of Russia’s Efko company Rostislav Kovalevsky said. "Each of such centers is solving the task of inspiring young scientists. We believe young scholars should see that areas of research we are now dealing with are indeed important for the world," he added.
The world’s largest biotechnology cluster for industrial production of sweet protein under the technology developed in Russia will be built in the UAE, TASS reported earlier.
The World Youth Festival is being held in the Sirius Federal Territory on March 1-7. TASS is the event’s general information partner.
