Turkey, Bulgaria promised Hungary to continue Russian gas transit — Szijjarto
Agreements reached will serve "long-term national interests and security of energy supplies" to Hungary, said foreign minister of Hungary Peter Szijjarto
BUDAPEST, March 1. /TASS/. Hungary has obtained the consent of Turkey and Bulgaria to provide it with Russian gas transit in coming years, said Foreign Minister of Hungary Peter Szijjarto, participating in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban met President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan and President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev there. Agreements reached at meetings "will serve long-term national interests and security of energy supplies" to Hungary, Szijjarto noted. Turkey and Bulgaria "will continue to be the reliable transit route for gas supplies," he added. Hungary receives the bulk of Russian fuel over the TurkStream gas pipeline and its branch via territories of Bulgaria and Serbia.
"If this route were not in service, we would have big problems and we would not be able to support secure deliveries of natural gas to our country," Szijjarto said in a video address on his page in Facebook (prohibited in Russia due to its ownership by Meta, which has been designated as extremist).
