Share of cashless payments in Russia above 83.4% — Central Bank

Each second Russian national uses transfers via the Faster Payments System, and each third pays for purchases with its use
ANOSINO, March 1. /TASS/. The share of cashless payments in the retail turnover gained 5.3 percentage points in annual terms and reached 83.4% as of the end of 2023, Governor of the Bank of Russia Elvira Nabiullina said.
"We summed up results for 2023. The share of cashless payments in the retail turnover reached 83.4%. It grew at once by 5.3 percentage points over the year," Nabiullina said.
This is among the highest figures globally, she noted.
Each second Russian national uses transfers via the Faster Payments System, and each third pays for purchases with its use.
According to statistics of the Central Bank, Russians made more than seven billion transactions totaling 31 trillion rubles ($338.7 bln).
