Iran's oil minister voices hope for expansion of energy cooperation with Russia

DUBAI, February 28. /TASS/. Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji expressed hope that cooperation with Russia in the energy sector will expand, the Iranian Shana agency reported.

According to the agency, speaking at a meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Iran in Tehran, the minister stressed the importance of cooperation between the two countries in the oil and gas sector and expressed hope that "interaction between the two countries will expand."

According to him, at the meeting of the intergovernmental commission attention was paid to the measures already taken and to further cooperation in various fields.

A meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Iran took place on February 28. It was chaired by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak and Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji.

On February 23, Novak told TASS that Russian and Iranian companies are currently negotiating the creation of a gas hub in Iran and the development of gas fields. These issues will be discussed in particular at a meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
