Uniper notified Russia about Unipro dispute, company says
"Uniper had already decided to sell the stake in Unipro in the summer of 2021 and informed the Russian government of its decision in the autumn of 2021," the company noted
MOSCOW, February 28. /TASS/. Germany-based Uniper holding sent a notice of a dispute to Russia in connection with transfer of Unipro stocks for temporary management by the Russian Property Management Agency in order to hold talks, the company said.
"Uniper has therefore sent a Notice of Dispute to the Russian Federation in order to resolve such dispute through negotiations. If no resolution should be found through negotiations, Uniper can then initiate investment arbitration proceedings against Russia," the energy company said.
"Uniper had already decided to sell the stake in Unipro in the summer of 2021 and informed the Russian government of its decision in the autumn of 2021," the company added.
Placement of Unipro under management by the Russian Property Management Agency violates the bilateral agreement on investments between Russia and Germany and the Energy Charter Treaty, Uniper added.
