Kazakh bank Freedom Finance stops operations with Russian Mir cards
Earlier, the US Treasury added the Russian National Payment Card System, which ensures the processing of transactions using Russian Mir cards, to the sanctions list
ALMATY, February 27. /TASS/. The Kazakh bank Freedom Finance has stopped operations with cards of the Russian payment system Mir, the bank told TASS.
"P2P transfers in Freedom Banker from/to the Mir card are no longer available. We recommend making payments and transfers using transfers by phone number to or from Cifra Bank," the bank’s help desk said. The bank refrained from making more detailed comments.
Earlier, the US Treasury added the Russian National Payment Card System (NSPK), which ensures the processing of transactions using Russian Mir cards, to the sanctions list.
The NSPK, in turn, reported that the sanctions will not affect the operation of payment services within the country. Foreign banks make the decision to accept Mir cards in their infrastructure independently, NSPK added at the time.
