Russian stock indices rising on Monday - market data
The dollar lost 0.48% to 92.37 rubles, while the euro edged down by 0.02% to 99.99 rubles
MOSCOW, February 26. /TASS/. The Russian stock market started the week with recovering growth after the long weekend, according to Moscow Exchange data.
The MOEX Russia Index gained 2.26% to 3,213.17 points. The RTS Index surged by 3.1% to 1,097.4 points.
The yuan tumbled 0.05% to 12.76 rubles. The dollar lost 0.48% to 92.37 rubles. The euro edged down by 0.02% to 99.99 rubles.
"Despite the increasing sanction pressure for a number of companies, the market overall did not find critical risks in the next package of Western sanctions. The rise in stocks was restrained by the ruble strengthening trend and by the drop of oil prices to $80 per Brent barrel and the overall decline in commodities prices," Alexander Bakhtin from BCS Investment World said.
