The divestment of Russian assets will make it possible to boost Polymetal’s liquidity, Vitaly Nesis added
MOSCOW, February 19. /TASS/. Polymetal is not considering an option of buying back its Russian assets, CEO of the mining and metals company Vitaly Nesis said at a teleconference.
"No, I believe such option would actually contradict sanctions in spirit if not in literally, and therefore we have never considered such opportunity," the chief executive said.
The divestment of Russian assets will make it possible to boost Polymetal’s liquidity, he added.
Polymetal entered into an agreement for the sale of its Russian business to Mangazeya Plus based on an estimate of $3.69 bln, the company reported earlier today. The general meeting of shareholders on the transaction approval will be held on March 7, 2024.
