Georgian wine exports to Russia jump nearly 30% in January — Georgian statistics office
Deliveries from Georgia of mineral water and soft drinks containing sugar to Russia contracted by 10% to about 11,700 metric tons
TBILISI, February 19. /TASS/. Exports of Georgian wine to Russia grew dramatically by 26.9% year on year in January 2024 to reach about 5,000 metric tons of wine, according to the National Statistics Service of Georgia.
Georgia exported 5,060 metric tons of wine for a total value of $13.3 mln, the authority said. The like-for-like figure was 3,900 metric tons at $11.2 mln in January 2023. Wine accounts for 32% of Georgia’s total exports to Russia.
In contrast, deliveries from Georgia of mineral water and soft drinks containing sugar to Russia contracted by 10% to about 11,700 metric tons.
Georgian imports from Russia fell by 15.6% year on year in January 2024 to $148.3 mln. Imports of oil and petroleum products plummeted by 1.4 times to 51,200 metric tons valued at $37.1 mln. At the same time, wheat and meslin imports surged almost twofold from 16,700 metric tons in January 2023 to 31,200 metric tons in the first month of this year.
