Caspian Pipeline Consortium considering construction of new tankfarm
CPC CEO Nikolay Gorban noted that the company needed to create a return on investment study for solving that issue
ASTANA, January 16. /TASS/. Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) is considering the issue of constructing a new tankfarm in the future, Chief Executive Officer Nikolay Gorban said.
"Regarding the construction of a new tankfarm, we are currently considering those issues. And it will probably be relevant in the future. However, we have not brought those issues up for shareholders’ (consideration) yet," he told a briefing.
For solving the issue, it is necessary to create a return on investment study, Gorban noted. "We need to create a justification statement, and once we justify (the project) both from the technical and economic viewpoint and show this dynamics and statistics we will convince the shareholders," he said.
CPC is the pipeline system connecting Kazakhstan with a seaport in Novorossiysk area, where tankers are loaded with oil for the supply to global markets. The 1,511 km long pipeline links oilfields in the West Kazakhstan with the marine terminal in Novorossiysk. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with three Single Point Moorings that allow loading tankers safely at a significant distance offshore, also amid poor weather conditions.
